Police in Regional Division 4A say they are investigating the death of Norman Emanuel Vieira called ‘Peter’, 73, of Lot 116 Section ‘E’ Cummings Park, East Coast Demerara which occurred at his address between 7 pm on Tuesday and 4.05 pm yesterday.
Investigations disclosed that Vieira lived alone in a two-bedroom wooden structure. According to one of the deceased’s neighbours, the deceased had no known relative and was a patient of the cardiology clinic at the Georgetown Public Hospital. He was last seen at about 7 pm on Tuesday at his door. Yesterday while she was in her yard, she became aware of a foul stench coming from the deceased’s home.
Upon checking, she found the deceased lying motionless in his home. As a result, she contacted the police through the 911 hotline.
The police responded, and upon arrival, Vieira was found lying motionless on his bed in one of the bedrooms of his house. He was clad in boxers.
The body was examined for marks of violence, but none was seen.
The Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned, and the man was pronounced dead by a doctor.
The body is presently lying at Sandys Funeral Parlour awaiting a post-mortem examination.
