President Irfaan Ali yesterday announced plans to develop 500 acres of land to expand cassava production for Mabaruma communities in Region One (Barima-Waini).

The president made the announcement during a community meeting with residents of White Water and surrounding communities in the Mabaruma sub-district, as he continued his Region One outreach, the Department of Public Information (DPI) said.

Late last year, the government invested some $25 million in an agro-processing facility for White Water, which has been instrumental in boosting the village’s processing of cassava casareep.
