Taleshwar Persaud called `Baggi’, 23, was yesterday charged with the rape of a child under the age of 16 years.
In a release, the police yesterday said that the offence allegedly occurred on May 23, 2024.
The accused appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed where the charge was read to him.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until June 21, 2024.
