On Friday, at the Chinese Embassy, 45 healthcare providers from across the country received certificates for their successful completion of the Tropical Chronic Diseases Research Programme.
This programme, which began on May 10, 2024, is a partnership between the Southern Medical University and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China. It utilises a hybrid approach to enhance the skills of healthcare providers in tackling chronic illnesses.
Dr. Narine Singh, the Chief Medical Officer, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce of China during his brief address. He noted that improved primary healthcare can prevent many complications such as kidney failure, heart failure, and more.
“Specialised care is what we are focusing on, and we hope to see better healthcare practices. With better primary healthcare, we can prevent a lot of complications,” he stated.
China’s Ambassador, Guo Haiyan, congratulated the healthcare professionals for completing the training programme.
