Massy Stores Guyana yesterday opened a branch at the Giftland Mall in Liliendaal – its sixth – taking over from FoodMaxx which closed their doors on May 27.
Speaking at the opening, General Manager of Massy Stores (Guyana), Robert Singh, stated that the company has retained FoodMaxx employees to ensure continuity as part of its quest to provide exceptional service.
Singh noted that the expansion of the brand continues to provide job opportunities, and also shows the company’s dedication to supporting local brands while also housing the internationally loved brands that the Massy Stores provide. “This opening of this new store, in my view is one of the better examples of business integration and collaboration,” he said.
Present at the occasion was Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, who posited that Massy making the decision to invest in a sixth store should inform Guyanese that Guyana’s economy is one that is robust. “No business or business person invests in a country that is not going any place, where they are not sure that they can make money,” adding that “every opportunity like this, what it does is give employment.” Hamilton also congratulated Massy on their new venture.
A release from Massy said that the store will be open from 8 am to 9 pm Monday to Saturday, and until 9:30 pm on Sundays. Customers can utilise their Massy Points for purchases and to acquire Caribbean Airlines Miles.
Massy, headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago, now has over 50 locations within the Caribbean region including St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados.
