The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, primarily the Hope and Justice Centre, conducted a sensitization and collaboration session with the administrative staff of Regional Police Division 4 ‘C’ last Friday.
A police press release said the aim of the training was to enlighten the supervisory ranks on the functions, procedures, and roles of the Hope and Justice Centre and the domestic violence advocates.
The Hope and Justice Centre provides a range of critical services, including: counselling, legal services, support for domestic violence victims/survivors, social worker assistance, domestic violence and gender-based violence hotline (914), child abuse support, issuance of protection orders and safe spaces for domestic violence victims among others, the release stated.
The exercise reinforced how important the resources of the Hope and Justice Centre are in supporting the community and ensuring the safety of the victims and survivors of domestic abuse, it added. The ranks were fully enlightened on the procedures during the session and were encouraged to make use of the essential services.
The release stated that through community outreach programmes and training sessions for all ranks in the region, Commander K Pareshram was offering an openness to future collaboration with the Hope and Justice Centre.
