Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Linden edition
Traditional giant Silver Bullets secured a record-tying third title in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Linden Championship after riddling Hardball Management 5-0 on Saturday evening at the Retrieve Hard-court.
The mammoth crowd that descended on the venue witnessed a vintage performance from the experienced Silver Bullets outfit, who effectively sealed the victory at the conclusion of the first half with a 3-0 score.
In the space of two minutes, the Silver Bullets unit secured a commanding position following conversions from Damion Williams and Colwyn Drakes in the sixth and eighth minutes, respectively. The versatile Amoniki Buntin then completed the ideal first stanza, following a 17th-minute conversion.
Damion Williams opened the scoring in the sixth minute, before Colwyn Drakes doubled their advantage as he scored in the eighth minute. Amoniki Buntin then completed a perfect first half period, as he netted in the 17th minute.
The contest was then sealed as Drakes recorded a ‘Guinness Goal’ [a goal scored in the final three minutes of normal time counts as two] in the 28th minute.
Due to the outcome, Silver Bullets pocketed the championship trophy and $500,000. They also secured automatic entry to the national championship, which is slated for August in Georgetown. On the other hand, the loser pocketed $400,000 and the respective trophy.
Meanwhile, in the third-place playoff, Turf President brushed aside Spaniards 4-0. The quartet of Anthony Layne, Kelroy Anthony, Malachi Todd, and Floyd Headly tallied goals in the fifth, sixth, ninth, and 10th minutes, respectively.
With the result, Turf President received $300,000 and the respective trophy, while Spaniards walked away with $250,000 and a trophy.
