Herstelling Raiders and Timehri Panthers secured victories when the East Bank Demerara Senior Men’s League continued at the National Training Centre, Providence.
Herstelling Raiders thrashed Diamond United 5-1. Cornel Hazel broke the deadlock in the 12th minute for Herstelling. The lead proved to be short-lived as Persaud equalised for Diamond in the 16th minute.
The score remained unchanged heading into the halftime interval. However, it proved to be a game of two halves as Herstelling recorded five unanswered goals.
Wellington Dos Santos, the scorer of an eventual hat trick, found the back of the net in the 75th minute to make it 2-1. The score ballooned once more as Dos Santos completed his brace five minutes later.
Dos Santos then completed his haul to push the score to 4-1 as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 82nd minute.
Jermaine Lewis completed the rout, scoring four minutes later.
Meanwhile, the Timehri Panthers downed Swan 5-3.
Luton Klass handed Timehri the initial advantage via a 10th-minute effort. However, Jeremiah Duke fashioned the equaliser for Swan in the 19th minute.
Nathaniel Paul then restored Timehri’s one-goal lead as he made his presence felt in the 22nd minute. Paul would then complete his double in the 36th minute to make it 3-1, leaving the score unaltered entering the halftime break.
Following the resumption, Steven Alexander reduced the deficit to 2-3 following a 69th-minute strike.
However, Klass restored his side’s two-goal lead via a 71st-minute effort to complete his brace. Klass then sealed his hat-trick as he found the back of the net in the 85th minute to push the score to 5-2. Swan would net a consolation goal in the form of Dellon Joseph in the 89th minute.
The competition continues on Sunday at the same venue with another round of matches.
