The Russian warships which are headed to the Caribbean soon pose no direct threat to Guyana, Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo said yesterday at this weekly press conference. However, he assured that the country remains vigilant.
When asked, Jagdeo said that they were made aware of the development and that President Irfaan Ali had spoken to “several people in the region.”
“The view …shared by some of our partners is that it’s not something that we should worry about, that it doesn’t represent a direct threat to Guyana or Guyana’s interest.”
