Colts clip Ravens in Men’s U-23 Basketball

Colts maintained their perfect record in the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association’s (GABA) Men’s U-23 Championship, defeating Ravens by a 79-69 on Wednesday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Charles Williams led Colts with a game-high 26 points. He was supported by Carmelo Mon-Son-Hing, who chipped in with 16 points. On the other side, Atilla Williamson tallied 23 points, while the trio of Alroy Nurse, Quah Jackman, and Omar Headley scored 13, 10, and 10 points, respectively.

In what was a battle of undefeated teams, the Colts seized the early initiative as they stormed to a 26-13 advantage at the end of the first stanza. Ravens marginally reduced the deficit in the second period, as they outscored Colts 15-14 to enter the halftime interval trailing at 28-40.

Colts would extend their advantage, though marginally, in the third quarter, scoring 19 points while restricting the Ravens unit to 17 points to enter the final period in control at 59-45.

Colt’s sizable lead proved to be the difference in the contest, as they were outscored by Ravens 20-24 in the final period.

Meanwhile, Kwakwani defeated Kobras 88-73 in the earlier contest. The event continues tomorrow at the same venue with another round of matches.
