The teams of Leyland Leacock and Phillip Squires, as well as Nkechi McPherson and Seanden David-Longe, recorded contrasting wins when the Guyana Tennis Association Doubles Championship continued at the National Racquet Centre on Camp Street and Woolford Avenue.
The combination of Leacock and Squires downed the team of John Green and Aubrey Younge 6/1, 6/0 in the Men’s 35 and Over section.
In the Mixed Doubles section, the pair of McPherson and David-Longe overcame the team of Jamaali Homer and Immanuel Barker 2-1. After losing the first set 5/7, Team McPherson/David-Longe levelled proceedings at 1-1 after prevailing 6/2 in the second set.
They then completed the come-from-behind win in the third stanza via a 6/2 score.
Meanwhile, the combination of Sandeep Chand and Andre Lopes bested the pair of Adam Alves and Fiaz Yamin 6/1, 6/2 in the Men’s 35 and Over division.
The event continues today at the same venue with another set of matches.
