Mahmudullah takes Bangladesh home

(ESPN) It wasn’t all plain sailing. Bangladesh were pushed in the end, largely because of Nuwan Thushara’s excellent bowling last night in Dallas, Texas.

But Mahmudullah kept them ticking last night and even though he took a risky run at the end of the 19th over, in his attempts to keep strike, the shy at the stumps missed (Mahmudullah would have been out by miles if he’d hit), and they ran an overthrow to complete the victory. Sri Lanka’s bowlers battled hard here, but their batters just didn’t give them enough to play with. Even a score of 150 could have been testing, given the quality Sri Lanka have among their bowlers.

They now have to depend on some insane upsets in Group D to have a shot at qualifying for the Super Eights in the T20 World Cup.
