Dear Editor,
The tongue lashing spat, which caused a stir, was uncalled for. No one is above the law and the law must be upheld and honoured.
To give effect to rulings or other consequences which might flow therefrom, I think written judgments must be given in a timely manner. The prescribed timeframe is now being objected to with the description of ‘heresy’ but this does not change the fact of the law.
Of course, the heavy work load being attributed as the reason could have been avoided if the increased complement to the various courts was acted upon sooner. In all fairness the courts did the best they could with the little they have. But the law is the law and as difficult as it might be, it must be upheld, unless otherwise is enacted.
Yours faithfully,
Shamshun Mohamed
