The King’s Hotel and Residence, which is currently being built at Quamina and Waterloo streets, will include a three-storey parking lot that will be located obliquely opposite.
This development follows concerns from netizens about the availability of parking facilities, in response to a report published by Stabroek News in November last year.
During a site visit yesterday, a source revealed to Stabroek News that the space for the parking lot is currently occupied by engineers from the QingJian Group, who are overseeing the hotel’s infrastructure work.
The source explained that there were challenges acquiring the necessary land adjacent to the hotel. As a result, the developers opted to purchase a property directly across the street. Construction of the three-storey parking facility will commence once the Chinese engineers complete their work. The source confirmed, “There will be a double or triple deck kind of parking lot.” The cost was not disclosed, but it was stated that the facility will function as a shuttle-like parking space.
The King’s Hotel and Residence project began construction in April 2023, with a projected completion date set for late 2024. The investment for this development is estimated between US$12 million to US$15 million.
The multi-storey parking facility is expected to address the logistical needs of the hotel’s future guests and visitors, alleviating traffic and parking issues in the vicinity. The source said this move demonstrates the developers’ commitment to ensuring a seamless experience for patrons by addressing concerns early in the construction phase.
