Guyanese cyclist Briton John’s scintillating form continued on Saturday in Suriname as he won the first stage of the Grand Prix de L’Ouest Guyanais.
The stage, which covered a gruelling 90 miles from Suriname’s capital Paramaribo to Albina at the Suriname/French Guiana border, saw fierce competition, but John, with the help of his teammates, emerged triumphant.
Team Guyana, which composed of Kwame Ridley, Alexis Mendes, Aaron Newton, Cortis Dey, and Mario Washington, played a crucial role in supporting John, as they executed a well-coordinated effort to ensure his path to victory.
Their teamwork and dedication were evident as they provided the necessary support and strategy, enabling John to maintain his lead and cross the finish line ahead of his competitors.
The Grand Prix continued yesterday, with the final stage slated for today. The results from the other stages will be published in a subsequent report.
