Murdered cop’s son gunned down in mass shooting

(Trinidad Express) The son of a murdered senior superintendent of police was killed in a mass shooting in Chase Village on Sunday night.

Kent Castillo, also known as “Panther”, was shot and four other men were shot on Mungal Trace in Orangefield Village.

Kent was the son of Edward Castillo, who was killed on November 17, 2018, in a confrontation with gunmen at a shop owned by his relatives.

Edward Castillo, a father of five, who was last posted as head of the Central Police Division, was suspended from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in 2012.

The senior officer also had allegations of three offences of indecent assault against women police officers allegedly committed between 2003 and 2010.

A police report said that residents heard multiple rounds of gunfire at around 10 p.m.

Kent, 44, died at the scene of the shooting.

Annand Ragbir, 36, Dorrean McDonald, 28, Elon Devenish, 41, and Shavinton Deraveneux, 27, suffered gunshot injuries and were hospitalised at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

Responding to the scene were ASP Steve Persad and PC Lall of the Homicide Bureau of Region III, and of the Central Police Division were Supt Gordon, Insp Williams, and Sgt Francis.
