The teams of Leyland Leacock and Phillip Squires, as well as Grace McCalmon and Jamal Goodluck, secured contrasting wins when the Guyana Tennis Association Doubles Championship continued at the National Racquet Centre on Camp Street and Woolford Avenue.
Taking on the pair of Sandeep Chand and Andre Lopes in the Men’s 35 and Over division, the dynamic duo of Leacock and Squires easily dispatched their opponents in two sets 6/2, 6/2 in the group stage encounter.
Meanwhile, McCalmon and Goodluck overcame a second set test from Tisel Patterson and Surendra Khayyam to run out 6/1, 4/6, and 6/1 winners in the Mixed Open Doubles category. The win means that the pair now stands at 1-1 after two matches in Group One. The tournament continues throughout the week and is slated to culminate on June 16.
