The University of Guyana (UG) and Linden Technical Institute (LTI) registered contrasting wins when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Tertiary League continued on Sunday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
LTI downed the Guyana School of Agriculture 72-61. Kemol Grimmond amassed 32 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in the win, with Lerone Joseph adding 13 points and nine rebounds. On the other side, Shannon Wilson tallied 15 points and six rebounds, while Dexter Quintin added 14 points and eight rebounds.
The combination of Dennis Prince and Omarion Sampson supported with figures of 12 points, eight rebounds, and 11 points, eight rebounds, respectively.
UG downed the Government Technical Institute 62-61. Jushawn Bailey recorded 34 points and six rebounds in the win, while Malachi Grimmond tallied 10 points and seven rebounds. On the other end, Martin Edwards recorded a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Peter Langevine achieved the identical feat with 12 points and 21 rebounds. Chipping in with 11 points and 10 rebounds was Jamal Mercier.
Meanwhile, the New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) thrashed the Upper Corentyne Combine 62-37. Aberone Collins recorded 23 points and four rebounds, while Jerome Trim tallied a double-double of 14 points and 19 rebounds, and Timothy Rampersaud accumulated 11 points and eight rebounds.
For the loser, Frederick Lashley netted 16 points and six rebounds, while Aaron King amassed 12 points and 13 rebounds. Adding 10 points and nine rebounds was Aldon Angel.
The event continues on Sunday at the same venue with another round of matches.
