Berbice businesswoman, construction worker charged over gun

A Berbice businesswoman and a construction worker were on Monday remanded to prison after they were charged with being in possession of an illegal firearm.

Oriel Lindie, 33, a construction worker and Ronessa Hinds, 30, a businesswoman both of Lot 145 Overwinning Housing Scheme, New Amsterdam appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Michelle Mathias where they were charged with the offence of possession of a firearm without a licence which occurred on June, 6, at Islington, New Amsterdam Berbice, to wit; one suspected twelve-gauge shotgun.

The duo pleaded not guilty to the charge and were both remanded to prison.
