The right to bear arms

Dear Editor,

In most countries of the world, it is a fundamental right of citizens to have the ability to bear arms. Guyana should not be the exception. Recently, there has been a plethora of violent crimes against business persons which have resulted in serious injuries and loss of assets. The Guyana Police Force seem to be powerless to stop this growing lawlessness.  Statistics have consistently shown that when citizens are adequately armed, there is a precipitous drop in violent crimes. If this government truly cares about our business community, they will seek to enact laws that make the owning of firearms more adequate and accessible.

Sincerely,
