The 2nd edition of the Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Cricket Championship will commence on August 3rd, according to an official release from the tournament organisers, FL Sport.
The four-day event, which will feature 32 teams competing in an elimination format, will conclude on August 25th at the National Stadium in Providence. The other playing dates are August 4th and 5th.
The winner of the event will pocket $1,500,000 and the championship trophy, while the runner-up will walk away with $500,000 and the corresponding accolade. The losing semifinalists will receive $250,000 each. Individual prizes will also be awarded. Registration for the event will require a fee of $25,000.
Eccles All-Stars won the inaugural edition after defeating the V-Net Vipers in the final. Team Corruption and the Tarmac Titans were the losing semifinalists.
FL Sport Co-Director John Ramsingh said, “2023 was truly a sublime year for the tournament; it was way beyond expectations with the support from the players and Guyanese people, and the National Stadium crowd was amazing. We hope to certainly eclipse such numbers in support and offer a quality tournament to the players.”
He further disclosed that interest in participation has been expressed by teams emanating from Pakistan, Dominica, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago, noting that their possible inclusion could occur in the 2025 edition.
“We will be streaming matches from the quarterfinal onwards again, both on Facebook, Youtube, FL Sport’s website, and, thanks to a great partner in ENet, on cable television. Sitting and watching quality tapeball from the comfort of one’s home is a big plus, but it also gives our sponsors much-needed visibility and value for their investment”, Ramsingh further said.
