The teams of Leyland Leacock and Phillip Squires, as well as Justine Kennedy and Benjettan Osborne, secured contrasting wins when the Guyana Tennis Association Doubles Championship continued at the National Racquet Centre on Camp Street and Woolford Avenue.
Kennedy and Osborne earned their place in the semifinal round of the Mixed Doubles section with a 6/2, 7/6 (2) victory over the team of Tisel Patterson and Surendra Khayyam.
On the other hand, Leacock and Phillip Squires blanked the pair of Adam Alves and Fiaz Yamin 6/0, 6/0 in the Men’s 35 and Over section to move within one victory of the title.
Meanwhile, the combination of Sandeep Chand and Andre Lopes brushed aside the team of John Green and Aubrey Younge 6/0, 6-1 in the Men’s 35 and Over division. The tournament continues throughout the week and is slated to culminate on Sunday.
