Bakewell Bakery recently announced increased prices for its bread products due to the significant increase in the cost for raw materials, transportation, and production.
The prices were increased with effect from Sunday, June 9, 2024, according to the notice posted at its Albert Street, Georgetown location.
The notice stated, “Dear customers, we are writing to inform you of our upcoming changes in the pricing of our bread products. Due to the significant increase in the cost of raw materials, transportation, and production, we find it necessary to adjust our prices accordingly.
This decision has not been made lightly and we have explored all possible alternatives to mitigate this rising cost. However, in order to maintain the quality of our bread and continue providing you with the best possible product, a price adjustment is unavoidable.”
It added, “We understand that price increases can be challenging, and we want to assure you that we remain committed to delivering high quality products that offer great value. We greatly appreciate your understanding and continued support during this time period of adjustment.”
Some of the products that have seen an increase are: plait bread which now costs $320 wholesale and $360 suggested retail; dinner rolls – $460 wholesale and $390 suggested retail; hamburger buns (6 pcs) – $300 wholesale and $330 suggested retail; and plait loaf – wholesale $210 and suggested retail $235.
