GOAL scholarships tenable at 20 institutions

A total of 7,783 applicants from across the 10 Administrative Regions have been selected to be a part of the  Guyana Academy of Online Learning (GOAL) scholarship programme for the 2024 batch and they will be attending 20 different institutions

These institutions are in Guyana, Trinidad, the Dominican Republic (DR), the United Arab Emirates, Germany, India, Costa Rica, Malawi, Zambia, Spain, and the United Kingdom (UK).

According to a list published in the Guyana Chronicle on Wednesday, the majority of awardees will be pursuing their studies at universities such as JAIN “deemed to be” University, Staffordshire University in the UK, Amity University in Dubai, and UNICAF institutions in East London, Suffolk, Malawi, and Zambia. Specifically, JAIN University will see a large number of students studying Business and Project Management, as well as other unique fields such as Wedding Planning, New Age and Jewellery Design Making, Nutrition and Dietetics, Sports and Fitness Management, and Telemarketing Services.

Some institutions, like Guyana’s AA Maritime & Offshore Training Institute and Spain’s Structuralia Universidad Isabel I, will focus on specialized areas like Oil and Gas. Staffordshire University also has sprinkling of students – 38 to be precise – pursuing studies in Petroleum Marketing and Business Development (three students).

The main areas of study for the 2024 batch of scholars include Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing Management, Public Health, and Education. These programmes will mainly be offered at Texila American University, the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) in Trinidad, and various UNICAF institutions.

Other institutions named in the list of 20 include International Skill and Development Cooperation (UK), Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science, UN University for Peace (Costa Rica), International University of Applied Science (Germany), and USC (DR). These institutions will offer programmes in a diverse range of subjects such as Level One SCQF, Aviation Management, Applied Psychology, Forensics, Criminal Psychology, Aeronautical Management, and Conversational Spanish.

The courses offered at the AA Maritime & Offshore Training Institute include Officer in Charge  of Engine Watch, Office in  Charge of  Navigation Watch. The Dubai university is offering course such as Certificate in  Accounts, Finance and Certificate in Agriculture and Food Production, Certificate in Insurance and Marketing, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor’s in Business Administration.
