-bouts rescheduled for ‘Six Head’ gym today
A power failure had the final say on the opening night of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) National Novices Championship, as it blanketed the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue in darkness which forced an abandonment of the evening’s proceedings.
The power outage persisted in excess of an hour before the officials decided to suspend the proceedings without a bout being staged.
According to the tournament organizing committee, the fights will be hosted this morning at the Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis Gym in Albouystown from 10:00am.
The committee further disclosed that the second night of action will continue as per normal at the National Gymnasium tonight from 6:00pm.
The three-day event, which concludes on Saturday at the same venue, will feature the participation of approximately 62 fighters from seven gyms.
The competing gyms are: the Forgotten Youth Foundation, the Guyana Defence Force, the Guyana Police Force, Pace and Power, Vergenoegen, New Amsterdam Academy, Andre ‘Six Head’ Lewis, the Guyana Police Force, and the Republicans.
