Nets defeat derby rival Sonics in Men’s U-23 basketball

Nets defeated fierce rival Sonics by a 71-59 score when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association’s (GABA) Men’s U-23 League continued on Wednesday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Peter Langevine amassed a game-high 25 points in the win. He was supported by the duo of Shaquille Hescott and Joel Lackhan, who contributed 15 and 13 points apiece. For the loser, Kurvin Mars tallied 19 points, with Shemar Hope the next best scorer at 13 points. Adding nine points each were Marvin Mars and Carlyle Morris. The first stanza ended favourably for Nets who secured a 23-18 advantage. Sonics marginally reduced the deficit in the second stanza, netting 13 points while restricting Nets to 12 to enter the halftime interval trailing at 31-35.
