Ranks from the Guyana Police Force’s Information Technology and Communications (ITC) Department, headed by Senior Superintendent Jermaine Johnson, conducted a training session on using and operating newly-acquired body cameras.

The ‘Body-Cam Training’ was held on Thursday at the Officers’ Training Centre and is a component of the Guyana Police Force’s continuous initiatives to improve accountability and transparency in policing and to acquaint ranks with the functional aspects of the new body cameras.

A release from the police force said that ranks received thorough training on operating the cameras and were given a detailed explanation of their features, which included capturing digital audio-video evidence.

Thirty-eight ranks were present including the three presenters: Assistant Superintendent Devon Sue, Sergeant Matthews and Corporal Leitch.
