National Table Tennis player Chelsea Edghill yesterday launched the inaugural edition of the KFC-sponsored Table Tennis Summer Showdown at the Guyana Olympic House, Liliendaal.
Simultaneously, she also launched her new venture, Edge Sports Management, a sports management consultancy.
The inaugural tournament will see both seniors and juniors vying for championship honours from July 5 at the Olympic House.
Speaking at the event, Edghill noted that the aim of her outfit is to have the players compete at a higher level.
“it is without further adieu I am proud to announce the KFC table tennis summer showdown a tournament that seeks to mirror that of the Caribbean championship in its organisation and its execution and will allow our athletes here in Guyana to experience such an event as those who represent our great country”
Meanwhile, Director of Marketing at KFC Guyana, Sadia Strand noted that her team was impressed by the association’s vision and is encouraging players to sign up.
“What you can expect from this tournament that yes KFC stand behind it 100% but it is going to be an international excellent calibre so don’t miss the opportunity to sing up register as soon as you can we are excited to be a part of it and we are looking forward to support Chelsea and her team endeavours”, Strand declared.

The competition is expected to feature some of Guyana’s top tennis players at both the junior and senior levels.
