Nurse, Britton, Warren win bouts

-in national novices championship 

Isiah Nurse, Keyon Britton, and Dominique Warren recorded victories when the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) National Novices Championship commenced yesterday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. 

 Nurse of the Rose Hall Town Jammers gym defeated Kevin Johnson of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) via referee stoppage at 1:10 seconds in round one in the junior division.

 Meanwhile, Britton of Vergenoegen defeated Nicholas Hikel of the New Amsterdam Academy via a second-round disqualification in the junior division.

 Continuing in the same category, Dominique Warren of the Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis gym defeated Ashton Dowridge of Pace and Power gym on point. 

 Also, Roopesh Balgobin of Rose Hall Town Gym defeated Kenroy Plass of Pace and Power Gym via points in the school boys section.

 At press time, several other matches were underway.

 The event, which concludes today at the same facility, will feature representation from approximately seven gyms across the various regions.

 They are: the Forgotten Youth Foundation, the Guyana Defence Force, the GPF, Pace and Power, Vergenoegen, the New Amsterdam Academy, Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis, and Republicans.
