On Friday, the Kwakwani Barge resumed operations following a collaborative effort between the government and the Kwakwani Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) to address problems with the vessel, the Ministry of Public Works said in a release yesterday.

Contrary to rumors of the barge sinking, the release said that it was revealed that significant repairs were needed. The repair process, led by Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation (DHBC) Manager Wayne Watson and a team of 39 DHBC staff, took approximately 100 hours to complete.
