Labourer shot on Water St by man in passing bus – report

The police are investigating the shooting of a labourer on Friday night, reportedly by a man from a passing minibus.

In a release yesterday, the police said that they are investigating the shooting which occurred at about 9.30 pm and which left Joseph Singh, 64, injured.

Investigations revealed that the victim was proceeding north on Water Street in the vicinity of Muneshwers Limited when he observed a grey Pitbull bus with ‘Trade Plate’ carrying two unidentifiable males, one of whom discharged several rounds in his direction. The bus drove off in a northern direction.

Singh suffered a gunshot wound to his hand. He went to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted as a patient.

No spent shell was recovered when Police visited the scene. Several CCTV cameras were seen in the area, and detectives will review video footage of the incident as investigations continue.
