More undeclared jewellery was seized on Friday at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri.

On this occasion, sources say a man, 36,  wore all of the jewellery on his person but made no declaration to customs officials. The jewellery amounted to roughly 23 ounces of gold. He was then taken into custody and questioned. He is expected to be charged.

Last week,  three persons allegedly attempted to smuggle over 240 ounces of gold to the United States by passing off gold jewellery as silver.   They pleaded not guilty to the joint charge when they appeared before the court and have each been placed on $600,000 bail.
