Little, Jones, Fraser impress in Novices Boxing Championship

Nickel Witter of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), as well as Vergenoegen’s Zonoah Little and Jamel Jones, recorded victories when the Guyana Boxing Association’s (GBA) National Novices Championship continued at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

In the Junior Welterweight (63.5KG) segment, Witter forced a referee stoppage at 2:15 seconds in the first round against Simeon Joseph of Vergenoegen.

On the other hand, Little defeated GDF’s Shurlon Stephen via decision in the Welterweight (67KG) division. Meanwhile, Jones of Vergenoegen defeated stablemate Jayden Fileen via decision in the Schoolboys segment.

On the other hand, Ken Harvey of the Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis gym forced a referee stoppage five seconds into the second round against Deshawn Ifill of Pace and Power.

In the Juniors section, Simeon Hamer forced a referee stoppage 43 seconds into the first round against Jesse DeFreitas.

Similarly, Morlando Cameron of Rose Hall Town Jammers forced a referee stoppage at 1:30 seconds of the third round against Anthony Stephen of Vergenoegen.

The event features representation from approximately seven gyms across the various regions. They are: the Forgotten Youth Foundation, the Guyana Defence Force, the GPF, Pace and Power, Vergenoegen, the New Amsterdam Academy, Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis, and Republicans
