-after suspected gunshot wound

The six-year-old child of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, who was allegedly shot in the head on Saturday night, remains hospitalised in a critical condition.

According to a Guyana Police Force [GPF]  release, a team from CID Headquarters visited the child’s home at Mon Repos, where she lives with her parents and sister on Sunday morning and examined the scene of the incident, which is a bedroom that is part of a flat, unpainted wooden house. Detectives, the release said, observed a suspected gunshot entry in the zinc, which appeared to have projected inwards in the vicinity of the child’s bed. Reddish stains, suspected to be that of blood, were on the bed, the release added, but no spent shell was found in or around the house.

Investigations are ongoing.
