Decomposed body of man found at Fort Ordnance

The police on Monday discovered the heavily decomposed body of a Cumber-land man, who was last seen alive five days ago, at Fort Ordnance Scheme, East Canje Berbice.

Dead is Gandela Babulall, 60, a pensioner of Lot 122 New Street Cumberland, East Canje Berbice.

According to a police source, ranks received an anonymous phone call of a smell emanating from a house at Lot 406 Fort Ordnance Scheme, East Canje Berbice which resulted in a team of police venturing to the location where they then discovered the body in stage 3 decomposition.

Stabroek News was told that Babulall was lying at the bottom flat of the wooden building in a chair. He was clad in  black short pants.

Checks were made for marks of violence, but none was seen on the exposed parts of the body.

Based on information gathered, the deceased was last seen about five days ago in the said area where he would usually imbibe.

His body was picked up and escorted to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital by Bailey’s Funeral Parlour.
