Saffee Ahmad, a businessman of 123 Street, Queens, New York, and Lot 38 Roraima Scheme, Versailles, West Demerara, was arrested by a rank from the Major Crime Investigation Unit and charged yesterday with the offence of exporting gold without a licence.
The defendant appeared at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court #2 before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman where he pleaded not guilty, the police said in a statement today.
He was placed on $600,000 bail.
The case was fixed for 2024-06-24 for statements.
