Back Circle A will oppose Unstoppable, while Taliban takes aim at California Square in the semifinal round of the Father’s Day Street-ball Championship following quarterfinal wins on Monday evening at the Back Circle Community Tarmac. Back Circle A squeaked past Make it Happen 2-1. Cecil Jackman bagged a double. On target in the loss was Calvin Peters. On the other hand, Unstoppable bested Back Circle B by a 3-2 score on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1. Meanwhile, California Square downed Stabroek Ballers 2-1. The combination of Dwayne James and Gerry Burnett recorded one goal, respectively. For the loser, Darren Benjamin found the back of the net. Also, Taliban overcame the Ballerz Empire 2-1 on penalty kicks after a scoreless regulation and extra time interval.
Back Circle A will now face off against Unstoppable at 21:00hrs, while Taliban will match skills with California Square at 21:45hrs. The resulting winners will advance to the final, while the losers will contest the third-place playoff.
The winner of the tournament will pocket $200,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $100,000, $60,000, and $40,000, respectively, and the corresponding accolade.
