Defending champion Beacons overcame a three-goal deficit to secure a 3-3 draw against Black Pearl when the Georgetown Football Association Senior Men’s League continued at the National Training Centre, Providence, East Bank Demerara.

In what seemed to be a large defeat for the Parade Ground-based outfit, the Beacons secured a share of the spoils after recording three goals in the final six minutes of the contest.

Antoine Vincent recorded the first conversion in the 86th minute to reduce the deficit to 1-3. Kenneth Jackson then made his presence felt as he found the back of the net two minutes later to further reduce the deficit.

The unlikely draw was then realised in the 90th+2 minute as veteran forward Anthony ‘Awo’ Abrams etched his name on the scorer’s sheet.

Prior to the eventual conclusion, Andre Francis recorded the only conversion of the first half in the 29th minute to give Black Pearl a 1-0 advantage.

The lead was then doubled upon the resumption of play, as Marcus Layne netted in the 60th minute. The advantage was further increased in the 82nd minute as Layne completed his brace.

Meanwhile, Eastveldt overcame Order and Discipline 3-2. The contest started in the perfect manner for Order and Discipline, who secured the initial advantage in the form of Ishmael Glen in the first minute.

However, David George restored parity to proceedings as he found the back of the net in the 28th minute. Order and discipline then retook the lead eight minutes onward as Glen sealed his double. The score remained unchanged entering the halftime interval.

The winner of the event will pocket $500,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $300,000, $200,000, and $100,000, respectively, and the corresponding accolade.
