France-based Guyanese powerlifter Dominic Tyrell made his senior debut at the annual World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships yesterday and powered his way to a deadlift bronze medal and a sixth place overall finish in the 83kg category in Druskininkai, Lithuania.
Tyrell, who moved up from the Junior Category, where he had also bagged a deadlift bronze, albeit in the 74kg class, competed against 26 other athletes from the USA, Great Britain, France, Hungary, Canada, Italy, Peru, Denmark, Japan, Czechia, China, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Singapore, Qatar, Lebanon, Brazil, Malta, Cyprus, and Kuwait.
