The team of Seanden David-Longe and Phillip Squires captured Men’s Open crown after upsetting top seeds Leyland Leacock and Gavin Lewis 2-0 as the curtain came down on the Guyana Tennis Association Doubles Championship at the National Racquet Centre on Camp Street and Woolford Avenue.

The recently formed team secured the early advantage as they prevailed 6/4 in the first set, much to the surprise of the small gathering that descended on the venue. They then clinched the title as they triumphed in the second set, 6/4.

It was the second title for Squires in the tournament after he secured the Men’s 35 and Over crown with Leyland Leacock.

The other successful teams in the tournament were Renola Jordan and Gavin Lewis who won the Mixed Open title, and Nkechi McPherson and Kizzy Richmond who captured the Ladies Doubles accolade.
