Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill (left) on Tuesday received a courtesy visit from Maria De Castro Martins, the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Guyana, along with a team from the Brazilian Embassy in Guyana.
During their meeting, they discussed various areas of mutual interest, particularly focusing on infrastructural development in Guyana, a release from the Ministry of Public Works said.
A significant part of their discussion centred on the Linden to Mabura Hill Road project, the release said.
This initiative aims to enhance connectivity between Guyana and Brazil and is part of a broader plan to improve transportation and trade routes within Guyana and neighbouring countries. Edghill highlighted that the road is not a stand-alone project but includes the construction of 45 bridges along the route, which will facilitate better access and economic activity across regions.
The Linden to Mabura Hill Road will serve as a major thoroughfare, boosting trade and tourism by providing a reliable link between the coastland and hinterland, the release said.
In addition to the road project, Edghill and De Castro Martins, along with her team, explored other infrastructural initiatives that could further boost ties between the two countries and contribute to regional development.
