Three persons, including a 19-year-old, were arrested on Wednesday night during a Police intel-led operation in Georgetown, which led to the recovery of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and two matching rounds of ammunition.
Detectives from the Alberttown Police Station were on ‘mobile patrol’ at around 10:45 pm when they received ‘certain information’. The ranks, acting on the information received, proceeded to Fifth Street Alberttown, where they intercepted a black Allion car bearing registration# HD 6172, which was parked on the northern side of the street, a statement from the police said.
The ranks engaged the three male occupants of the vehicle:
A 43-year-old taxi driver from Den Amstel (the driver)
A 34-year-old unemployed resident of Timehri
A 19-year-old unemployed resident of Rosemary Lane (Tiger Bay) in Georgetown
Police searched the men and vehicle. A side bag that was around the neck of the 19-year-old was searched, and a black 9mm pistol along with two rounds of 9mm ammunition were found inside.
The 19-year-old was told of the offence committed and cautioned. All three occupants were arrested and escorted to the Alberttown Police Station, where they were placed in custody.
The firearm and ammunition were marked, placed into separate evidence bags, sealed, and lodged with the Station Sergeant at the Alberttown Police Station to be taken to the Ballistics Section for analysis.
