Kwakwani maintained their undefeated streak in the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Men’s U-23 Championship, defeating Pacesetters 103-88 last evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Kelon Phillips amassed 36 points in the comfortable win, with the duo of Kimol Grimmond and Royan Shortt supporting with 27 and 24 points, respectively. For the loser, Neon Dover tallied 19 points, while Zardie DeJonge, Benkai Kings, and Kymanie Ballantine added 16, 14, and 13 points apiece. Racing off to a 24-14 lead at the end of the first period, Kwakwani increased their advantage in the second stanza, netting 27 points to their opponent’s 25 to enter the halftime interval in control at 51-39. Kwakwani’s lead grew in the third period, as they outscored Pacesetters 26-22 to enter the final period ahead at 77-61.
