Dear Editor
Something is not crystal clear in recent statements emanating from both sides on the matter of the teachers’ strike. On one hand the union is peddling it is looking at options to prevent removal of teachers from payments even as it sustains pressure for increased salaries (Demerarawaves June 18). Now the employer is claiming ‘Gov’t, Union closer to initial agreement’ (News Room June 20). So just what is the initial agreement and why does it appear the Union seems clueless about this? If the move is closer to an initial agreement shouldn’t both sides be echoing this?
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
