A $50.2m health centre was yesterday commissioned in Canefield Settlement, East Canje Berbice, bringing the total number in the Canje community to three.
The Regional Democratic Council of Region Six in a statement last evening said that the Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, who was present for the commissioning “emphasized the vital role of the new facility in providing essential healthcare services at the primary level.”
The statement said that he also urged residents to take advantage of the range of services that will be available. “In addition to highlighting the significance of the new centre, the minister emphasized the importance of proper maintenance, urging the custodians of the building to ensure its upkeep.”
Also present at the opening were the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo, the Regional Chairman of Region Six, David Armogan, Regional Executive Officer, Narindra Persaud, and Regional Health Officer, Dr. Vishalya Sharma.
