Charged with obstructing CANU officer

On Friday, Mark Anthony Thomas appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court where he pled not guilty to  the offences of possession of a narcotic to wit 4.5 grams of cannabis and the obstruction of a CANU officer during the execution of his duties.

A release from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said that he was granted bail in the sum of $60,000 in relation to the charge of obstruction of a CANU officer during the execution of his duties but was refused bail and remanded to prison until August 2, 2024, in relation to the charge of possession of a narcotic.
