The Guyana Police Force’s Traffic Department held its monthly stakeholders meeting yesterday at the Officers’ Training Center, Eve Leary.
Traffic Chief Senior Superintendent Mahendra Singh and the first ever Woman Deputy Traffic Chief in Guyana, Superintendent Shellon Daniels, met with Regional Traffic Officers, Inspectors, Traffic Certifying Officers, Regional Court Prosecutors, the National Road Safety Council Coordinator, Regional Road Safety Chairpersons and other stakeholders, a release from the police said.
During the interactive session, several traffic-related issues were raised and discussed, including issues relating to professionalism and efforts to foster and strengthen better interpersonal relations between the Police traffic department and members of the public, especially motorists and road users.
Issues relating to improvement in investigation supported by court presentation and successful prosecution, prevailing situation arising out of reports and accidents, intensification of traffic education and enforcement, as well as continued engagement with the Ministry of Public Works for an increase in signage and road markings to support safer use of the roads, coupled with traffic calming measures, were discussed.
