The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) yesterday delivered a significant quantity of cleaning hampers to residents of Blair-mont and Rosignol, two communities severely impacted by recent floods in Region Five. Flood-affected communities in Region Nine also received hampers from the CDC last week.

According to a press release, the distribution in Berbice was carried out with Preparedness and Response Manager Major Lakshman Persaud, and local councillors in attendance.

The recipients of hampers in Region Nine include South Pakaraimas Sub-district, which received 800 hampers, Shulinab village, which received 100, Meriwah village, which received 57, Quiko, which received 40, Parikarmau, which received 60, and Lethem Mayor and Town Council, which received 40.

The Region Nine distribution was made possible after the Regional Democratic Council requested assistance from the CDC due to above-normal rainfall that left many communities in the region in need of support.
