Paruima retains men’s title, Waramadong captures women’s crown

Upper Mazaruni U-18 Football

Paruima retained the men’s title while Waramadong secured the women’s crown when the 2nd edition of the Upper Mazaruni District Football Championship concluded last evening.

In the men’s final, Paruima thrashed Kamarang 5-0. Kimron Thomas bagged a brace in the 28th and 60th minutes, while Lot Granes, Darnis George, and Miguel Gonsalves scored in the 14th, 50th, and 58th minutes, respectively.

In the women’s final, Waramadong bested Jawalla 2-0. Ester Livan and Edilsa Daniels recorded second-half conversions in the 48th and 62nd minutes, respectively.

In the men’s third-place playoff, Kako downed Waramadong 2-1. Kayleon and Stephon Williams netted in the 24th and 34th minutes, respectively. On target in the loss was Andy Larson in the 22nd minute. In the women’s third-place fixture, Kako dismantled Kamarang 5-0.

On the individual side, Paruima’s Gonsalves was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the men’s section, while Livan of Waramadong secured the accolade on the distaff side.

Similarly, Gordo Masters (Paruima) and Julianna Thomas (Waramadong) copped the Best Goalkeeper titles, respectively, while Kimron Thomas (Paruima, six goals) and Rovina Morris (Kako, four goals) walked away with the Highest Goal Scorer accolades, respectively.

Meanwhile, Audwin Thomas (Kamarang) and Roslyn Henry (Jawalla) received the Best Young Player awards, respectively.
