Riddim Squad defeats Camptown in Georgetown football

Riddim Squad squeaked past Camptown by a 2-1 scoreline when the Georgetown Football Association Senior Men’s League continued at the National Training Centre, Providence, East Bank Demerara.

Dorville Stewart broke the deadlock in favour of Riddim Squad as he found the back of the net in the 12th minute. Riddim Squad’s lead would last for approximately 25 minutes before Ozeal Small etched his name on the scorer’s sheet to restore parity to proceedings. The score remained unchanged heading into the halftime interval.

Sceyon Hope would eventually record the go-ahead winner in the 90th+2 minute to secure the vital three points. The event continues on Friday with another doubleheader. Georgetown Football Club will lock horns with Pele in the opening match at 18:30hrs, while defending champion Beacons will face off against Eastveldt in the second encounter at 20:30hrs.

The winner of the event will pocket $500,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $300,000, $200,000, and $100,000, respectively, and the corresponding accolade.
